Forever and ever and never again,
A life in comfort I will spend.
For I have spent my days in vain,
Too afraid to face my pain.
Too afraid to dance with glee,
Lest leadened guilt come topple me.
Lest I hobble a sure foot,
Or find a treasure chest of soot,
Or find a lack of words explain.
Forever and ever and never again.

I spent a summer down below.
A tour of all of hell to know.
A king atop a crown I sat.
Upon the Devil's frown I spat.
Where all the days and nights combine,
To make a most delicious wine.
And screams are a delightful sound,
This is where my freedom's found.
Here I'll thrive until the end,
Forever and ever and never again.

Yet that final, universal truth,
Eludes me still, as does my youth.
As does a smile, As does a frown,
As does a hermit elude a town.
And like a hermit I seek to find,
All of reason in all of time.
For morbid Jack, to stay your loom,
I'll trade the comfort of a tomb,
For all my follies I'm forced to pen.
Forever and ever and never again.
